Kali ini sekolahoke.com akan menyajikan sebuah cerita rakyat berjudul "Timun Mas" yang diterjemahkan ke dalam Bahasa Inggris.

Timun Mas - Part 1

Once upon a time, there lived a widow named Mpok Rondo. She was an old woman who lived alone in a village near a forest.

Because of her loneliness, she prayed everyday. He hoped God would give her a baby who could accompany her life.

One day when Mpok Rondo was praying, there was a giant who walked near her house. The giant heard what Mpok Rondo asked.

The giant called Mpok Rondo from outside her house, "Hey, Mpok Rondo, come here!"

Mpok Rondo was shocked. She was very scared to know who called her was a giant. But she came out to see the giant.

"Yes, Giant. What's wrong?", Mpok Rondo asked.

"I know that you want a baby. I can give you. But you have to promise me!" The giant said.

"Really? What should I promise?" Mpok Rondo asked.

"I will give you a baby, but whe she is 17 next time, I will come and eat her." the giant said.

Mpok Rondo kept silent a while. She thought that appointment was hard. But she accepted.

"I promise I will give her when she is 17." Mpok Rondo said to the giant.

"Good. Here is a cucumber. Take it and look after it. After several days cut it. You will find a baby inside the cucumber." the giant said.

Mpok Rondo received the cucumber. She took care it for several days.

After a week she cut the cucumber. That was surprised, inside the cucumber there was a baby. Mpok Rondo was very happy. She give her a name Timun Mas.

Day by day Timun Mas grew older. She became a beautiful girl. Beside her beauty, Timun Mas also had good behavior.
