Role Play Technique

| Sabtu, 02 Juni 2012
This posting is going to give you an example how to apply Role Play technique in the classroom. You can modify to go with your students.

Role play is a good way to reduce learners stress in learning process. They can talk freely using English in the classroom. Role play also encourages learners to be active in speaking activity. How to do that? Follow the following steps.

Procedure:
1. Divide students into 2 groups. Group 1 is pretending to be a group of artists and group 2 becoming a group of interviewers.
2. Ask group 1 to decide their jobs and group 2 to prepare some questions for interview. Here are the example of questions:
    • What do you do for living?
    • Do you like your job?
    • How long have you worked?
    • What do you like most with your job?
    • When will it be the best time to retire from your job?
    3. Give 5-10 minutes for group 2 to interview group 1.
    4. After they finish interviewing, change the role. group 1 as the interviewers and group 2  to be the artists.
    5. Ask all students to make a report about their interview.
    6. Ask 2 students to read the report.
