Car is a vehicle with an engine, wheels and steering mechanism. It is designed to carry passengers or to race. The first vehicle was developed by the German engineers Karl Benz and Gottfried Daimler in 1880. Benz designed a complete vehicle. Daimler simply added his engine to a horseless carriage.
Car today is powered by petrol or diesel engine, or by electric motor. The engine turns a drive shaft, which is linked to the wheels by gears.
Car's shape is now designed using computer. It must look good, be safe and comfortable, and work well. the sleeker or more streamlined the car, the faster and more economical it will be to drive.
