How To Teach Verbs

| Minggu, 29 April 2012
There are several ways to teach verbs to your students. We can use songs, written and spoken texts, and teacher's voice.

How to teach verbs using songs

Prepare a nice and easy listening song. Type the script. Use gap filling as the first task. After listening, ask students to underline the verbs. Write down the verbs on the board and ask students to find the past form and the past participle.

How to teach verbs using written text

Choose a passage from newspaper or magazine. Ask students to answer questions about the article. After the task is finished, ask them to underline the verbs.

How to teach verbs using spoken text

Use a dialogue or recording from radio or TV. Ask students to complete the gap filling. Then ask them to answer some questions about the spoken text given. At the end, ask students to underline the verbs and find the past form and past participle.

How to teach verbs using teacher's voice

Read a short passage. Ask students to answer some questions. After answering the questions, ask them to listen again and choose some verbs in bracket that the teacher read in the text.
