How to Encourage Students to Speak up in English

Do you think that to make your students speak up during English lesson in the classroom is difficult? Yes, some of teachers think so.

Here is some ideas to encourage your students speak up during the activities of English class. They are not the best way, but it may help teachers to set up activities.

Interview 

Ask students to sit face to face. Give them an example of short dialogue to do interview. Give them 5 minutes to interview their partner. Use some cards for helping students to speak. The teacher just monitors the activity and makes a note some errors made by the students.

Monologue 

Prepare an interesting topic and relevant to the students real life. Example: social media, have a date. Make students sitting in a circle. If you have large number of students, divide them into some groups. Tell them to share their opinion or experience. The teacher monitors the activity and makes a note of some errors made by students.
