Spoof text adalah teks yang menceritakan peristiwa atau pengalaman yang diakhiri dengan kejadian tidak terduga. Untuk mengetahui langkah-langkah membuat Spoof text, mari kita telaah cerita yang saya sadur dari buku Interlanguage karangan Joko Priyana dkk berikut ini:

Fixing the Headstone
(Orientation)
Once, there were two men walking home after a Halloween party. They decided to take a shortcut through the cemetery just for laughs. Right in the middle of the cemetery they were startled by a tap-tap-tapping noise coming from the misty shadows.
(Event 1)
Trembling with fear, they found an old man with a hammer and chisel, chipping away at one of the headstones.
(Event 2)
“Holy cow, Mister,” one of them said after catching his breath, “You scared us half to death, we thought you were a ghost! What are you doing working here so late at night?”
(Twist)
“Those fools!” the old man grumbled. “They misspelled my name!”

Setelah kita memperhatikan cerita di atas maka dapat kita simpulkan bahwa Spoof text dibuat dengan 3 struktur yaitu Orientation, Event, dan Twist. Orientation berisi pengenalan tokoh, waktu dan tempat kejadian, Event berisi kejadian berurutan yang bisa lebih dari satu kejadian, sedangkan Twist adalah akhir yang tak terduga yang penuh dengan rasa humor.
