Listening Skills: What Did You Say?

Listen to this short conversation between Rifa and Putri.

Rifa said, "I'm sorry, what did you say?"

Putri answered, "I was just asking you if you know how to print a file."

In this conversation, Rifa asked Putri to repeat what she was saying. It means that Rifa didn't hear what Putri had said. So, she asked for repetition.

You may use the expression "What did you say?" when you're not sure what someone was saying. This expression is the same as the following expression:

• Could you repeat that again?
• Could you repeat that word?
