Strategy for Teaching Grammar: Correcting Mistakes

Teachers need various strategy in teaching grammar in order to make learners understand the grammar rules easily. One of strategy in teaching grammar is correcting mistakes.

Correcting mistakes is strategy to make learners aware of mistakes in some sentences given. If they are able to analyze the mistakes, it means they have coped with the grammar rules.

Teaching grammar using correcting mistakes strategy is easy and simple. You just need a few sentences to be corrected by learners. Remember that the grammar should have taught to the students before.

Here is an example of task used in correcting mistakes strategy. You can modify it based on the level and the lesson has been taught to your students.

Please underline the mistakes and fix them! You have 5 minutes to accomplish the task.

1. I wants to go shopping.

2. He need to buy some clothes.

3. The shopkeeper welcome us well.

4. After shopping, my mother walk to the cashier.

5. We waits near the doorway.

6. A policeman watch the costumers.

7. The shop are big.

8. A little girl plays near the goods.

9. We goes home on foot.

10. The night are dark.
